Snow Dogs or Nap Dogs?

Image
Our latest photos have been added to flickr today. Here's a peek at the "snow dogs": Why aren't they wearing their new coats ? They do not like clothing, and really only tolerate wearing the coats and only when it is snowing or raining, because I think they have realized that the coats help keep them dry. Not that they don't get covered in snow on their legs and bellies anyway . . . even though we shovel a nice pathway for them, they insist on plowing their own path through the deep snow. But I'm not about to try to get them to wear booties . . . It's hard to believe that Penny has been living with us for just over a month now. I think she has gained at least 2, maybe even 3 lbs. which is a good thing, because she was sooooo thin when she arrived. Now she is filling out nicely and growing into her long skinny body and legs. Her ears are still floppy -- we don't know if they will ever stand up straight, but we think they are cute the way they a

Keli and Penny have Fashonable New Coats

Just completed over the weekend, Keli and Penny now have coordinating - not matching - fleece coats. I wrote about the making of these coats in detail over in my SewAmazin blog . Here are a couple more photos to view here: There are some more new shots in their Flickr set

Valentine's Day fashions

Image
Here we are, trying on our Valentine's day duds to see how they fit us. This picture was taken before we both got our new haircuts, so we'll have to pose again . . . as long as we get our biscuits, I guess we can stand it. I get to wear a very nice bandanna and Penny is wearing a silly floppy ruffle that's too big for her neck. She doesn't know how funny she looks, 'cuz she's just a silly puppy. She also doesn't know that its a hand-me-down, 'cuz I wore it first in 2005 when I was almost 3 years old. Here I am waiting for someone to come downstairs and play with me: That's okay though, I don't mind sharing it. Here's another bandanna I wore a few years ago, but I don't like it as much as the one I get to wear this year. I also have a really cute collar that I get to wear every year for Valentine's day, but since Penny doesn't have one yet, I don't get to wear mine either.

Wyndi's Story

Image
A long time before Keli or Penny came to live with us, Wyndi was our first westie girl. She was born in 1989 in Massachusetts, just over the border from where we lived in Connecticut. We decided we wanted a westie because we thought the photo on the Milkbone treat box was so darn cute. We had no idea what we were in for -- Although it worked out for us, I do not recommend choosing a dog this way!  We found her through a listing in the newspaper and when we called they said they had one female puppy left, about 3 months old. So we piled into the car with a few other family members and drove to the breeder's home to see her. As soon as we got out of the car, Wyndi, her mom and her brothers all came out of their kennel to greet us. They were all so cute and adorable, we decided to take the little female home.  On the way home we discussed names for our new little puppy. One suggestion was "snowflake" but that seemed a little obvious a name for a little white dog. We
