Valentine's Day fashions

Here we are, trying on our Valentine's day duds to see how they fit us. This picture was taken before we both got our new haircuts, so we'll have to pose again . . . as long as we get our biscuits, I guess we can stand it.

I get to wear a very nice bandanna and Penny is wearing a silly floppy ruffle that's too big for her neck. She doesn't know how funny she looks, 'cuz she's just a silly puppy. She also doesn't know that its a hand-me-down, 'cuz I wore it first in 2005 when I was almost 3 years old. Here I am waiting for someone to come downstairs and play with me:



That's okay though, I don't mind sharing it. Here's another bandanna I wore a few years ago, but I don't like it as much as the one I get to wear this year.



I also have a really cute collar that I get to wear every year for Valentine's day, but since Penny doesn't have one yet, I don't get to wear mine either.

We don't really like to wear dresses for the holidays, but we do like to look special and these bandana-style collar slipcovers and scrunchie neck ruffles keep us looking stylish. Penny models a Poinsettia and Roses Bandana style collar slipcover. She wears a size Medium - which means the triangle section has a "drop" of about 6 inches from the top of the bandana to the point. The casing that her collar slips through is about 3" longer than her collar so it covers it completely. Larger or smaller sized bandanas are scaled up or down so that the triangle section is longer or shorter for bigger or smaller pups. Large bandanas are about an inch longer with a 7 inch drop; Small bandanas are about an inch shorter with a 5 inch drop. The channel is custom sized in length and width, depending on actual collar sizes. Hello, Westie Valentine Cupcakes!

Well, both Valentine's and St. Patrick's days have come and gone and I'm finally getting around to posting photos of our experiment with cupcakes. In my previous blog entry , I had just purchased the book, Hello, Cupcake, and was anxious to give the Westie cupcakes a try. I have to admit, I wasn't able to find a suitable reusable replacement for Ziploc bags, and in the end I purchased a small Wilton cake decorating kit with a couple of decorating tips and plastic icing bags. The kit also had icing food coloring which came in quite handy. Below is the whole pack of Westie Valentine cupcakes; some of them are wearing pink ruffles: And here is the very first cupcake, not a masterpiece at all! I tried to use miniature M&M's for the eyes, but they're much too large for this face: Here are two of the best finished cupcakes. Every Westie in the Pool!

Last summer, it was hot dog day in June when we tried to get out the old pool to cool off, but it had a hole in it and we had to wait a day to blow up another pool before we could have our first Westie pool party . This year, we didn't have to wait, 'cuz we got a new pool from PetSmart in May. It's a little smaller than the old pool, but we think it's just right for us. We're ready for the heat this year! Penny jumps in first, but Keli isn't quite sure the water is warm enough yet: Come on in Keli!
